Tummy Tuck Cost

For any one thinking about getting a tummy tuck one of the first things on their mind will probably be about how much does a tummy tuck cost. Like a lot of things in life the answer isn’t really that simple because there are a lot of variables in tummy tuck pricing and a lot of it depends on your location. In fact, the price varies so widely that many people go to another state to have the surgery.

On a statewide basis, some of the least expensive places are Utah, Indiana and Idaho. However, it’s usually possible to find lower prices closer to you if you’re willing to look around. There is one caveat though and that is you should never base your decision for tummy tuck surgery on price alone. What you may save on the initial surgery may add up due to surgical complication afterward, even costing more than what it would have cost for the more expensive and skilled surgeon.

Because the price of a tummy tuck varies so much, I got on the phone and I called various cosmetic surgeons around the country. One thing I noticed, is that within one city, prices could vary dramatically. Altogether I figured the average cost of a tummy tub is about $6300. This is the total cost. What is covered is the fee for the surgeon, the anesthesia, MSV to use the facility. Looking at the fees, about 70 to 80% of the total cost is the surgeons fee.

So here’s the price results quoted from calling tummy tuck surgeons from ten different cities. Results are listed alphabetically.

Look for a price range between $6500 and $8000 in Atlanta, $5000 and surprisingly $11,100 in Chicago. Another big surprise is that Detroit is very expensive at $14,000. In a city close to Detroit called West Bloomfield, the price was a bit cheaper at $8500. Houston was one of the cheapest with price starting at $3500 going up to $9150. The place I though would be expensive, Los Angeles, was actually fairly reasonable with prices ranging from 6 to 9 thousand. New York City surgeon do the surgery from $5000 to $13000 and in Oregon prices ranged from $6000 to $14500. In Philly between $5500 to $11,100 and finally in Seattle, $5000 and $10,000

So as you can see the cost for a tummy tuck varies quite widely. For anybody considering getting a tummy tuck, but maybe youre on a budget, you might also consider having a panniculectomy. In this procedure, the surgeon only removes the fac and excess skin from the area below your belly button. Unlike a tummy tuck, the surgeon does not operate on your stomach muscles
