Specify that you would really love to see both a software engineer and workflow management expert on the presentation team, not just the sales group.
5) Choose your vendor like you’d choose an employee – look for a good personality and great references. Send the successful vendor a letter of intent – subject to reference checking. Then make sure their references check out in the specific areas that are most essential to you.
6) If you can’t find an exact fit, don’t worry – many companies will agree to a “proof of concept” period, much like a commercial software trial. Negotiate a set period for a small fee, and evaluate the system. It might be somewhat inconvenient, but you may learn more about your requirements this way than if you get an exact match the first time! Record the results, and get quoted on those specific additions that you still require – who knows? If you want it, other companies might want it as well!
7) Enjoy! Satisfaction with new attendance system software often starts out with huge expectations; staff hope that it will function much better than the old system, and it should. However, new is threatning, so this is often followed by disappointment as use brings users down to earth. An adjustment period always has a learning curve, which is often painful. But your users’ experience will level out, and within a few months employees will begin to understand the new system’s strengths and capabilities, and use them to the fullest!
